Mr Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, V. O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA), along with senior officers of the port, on Monday, held discussions with Mr Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairperson, Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla for commencing the first environment-friendly Coastal Green Shipping Corridor between Kandla and Tuticorin, in partnership with Shipping Corporation of India. The discussion encompassed identifying grey / green methanol fuel container ships and bunkering service provider, potential coastal volume transits between Kandla and Tuticorin, connecting coastal container ship operator, and analysing the operating transit cost. This initiative, announced earlier by Mr Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, during the Chintan Shivir 2025 in Srinagar, aims to promote sustainable shipping practices.
