Indian seafood exporters are facing cancellation of orders from the United States and are likely to bear losses amounting to Rs 600 crore on shipments in transit to the country, with India coming at a disadvantage for these products with respect to Ecuador which have been slapped lower tariff, multiple industry executives said.
India had been the largest exporter of shrimp to the USA followed by Ecuador. India has been imposed 27% tariff by the United States of America while it’s 10% tariff on Ecuador.
