Seeks to amend certain notifications

Notification No. 20/ 2001-Customs
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central
Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that each of the notifications of
the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), specified in column (2) of the Table hereto
annexed, shall be amended or further amended, as the case may be, in the manner specified in the corresponding entry in
column (3) of the said Table.

(i) in the entry in column(3),for the words "Blue steel lapping carriers", the words "Blue steel lapping
carriers/lapping carriers" shall be substituted;
(ii) in the entry in column(4),for the words "Silicon in all forms", the words "Silicon in all forms; LED lamps and
displays", shall be substituted;
(c) against S. No. 52, after the entry in column (3), the following Explanation shall be inserted, namely:-
' Explanation. - For the removal of doubt, "plain plastic film" includes Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene
(BOPP) film.';
(d) against S. No. 83, for the entry in column (3), the following shall be substituted, namely:-
"CRNGO silicon steel strip/sheet/coil/hoop with or without tin plating";
(e) against S. No. 84, in the entry in column (3), for the words "mild stainless steel", the words "mild
steel/stainless steel" shall be substituted;
(f) against S. No. 87, for the entry in column (3), the following shall be substituted, namely:-
"Copper clad tin coated steel wire, dia 0.4mm to 1.2mm/ solder plated Copper covered steel wire (SPC)".
