S.O. <>(<>E<>)<>.-In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section <>(<>1<>)<> and <>(<>2<>)<> of section 16 read
with sub-section <>(<>3<>)<> of section 25 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 <>(<>11 of 2016<>)<>, the
Central Government, after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, is of the opinion that it is
necessary or expedient so to do in the public interest, hereby makes the following Order, namely:-
1.Short title and commencement.€<>(<>1<>)<> This Order may be called the Air Conditioner and its
related Parts <>(<>Quality Control<>)<> Order, 2018.
<>(<>2<>)<> This Order shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
2.Compulsory use of Standard Mark.-Goods or articles specified in column <>(<>1<>)<> of the Table
below shall conform to the Indian Standard in column <>(<>2<>)<> of the said Table and use the
Standard Mark under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Explanation.-The goods or articles specified in column <>(<>1<>)<> of the said Table shall be applicable
for import and manufacturefor usewithin India.
3.Certification and enforcement authority.€In respect of the goods or articles specified in the
Table, the Bureau of Indian Standards shall be the certifying and enforcing authority.
4.Penalty for Contravention.-Any person who contravenes the provision ofthis Order shall be
punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
