Subject: Certification of Low Voltage Switchgear and Controlgear as per IS/IEC 60947

This has reference to the subject mentioned above.

2. The Indian Standards listed in Table 1 have been brought under Electrical Equipment (Quality
Control) Order, 2020 w.e.f. 11.11.2021 under Scheme II of BIS (CA) Regulations, 2018. Some
of these switchgears are already being certified by BIS under Scheme I.

3. In this regard, the following may kindly be noted:

4. Existing Licences

As per the Quality Control Order issued by DHI, existing Licensees under Scheme-I shall not
be required to obtain permission from the Bureau under a separate licence as per Scheme–II.
But in case they so desire, existing Licensees may migrate to Scheme-II (CRS) in the
following manner:-
a. An Application shall be made on www.crsbis.in by existing Licensees, at any time during
the validity of their Licence.
b. The Licensee shall submit endorsements issued by BIS for the varieties desired in the
scope. Corresponding old Test Reports shall also be submitted, to the extent possible.
c. For the existing varieties, manufacturer shall self-assign Model Nos and Brand (as
already declared) for each variety in the format given below.

d. Separate application shall be made for each Brand with requisite fee.
e. Requisite documents related to Brand, Authorized Representative and copy of marking
label including Logo/ Trademark shall also be submitted in line with the provisions under
CRS.

f. Existing Licences shall be expired/ surrendered after the Registration under Scheme II
has been obtained.

5. Existing Applications
Existing Applications may be processed for grant of Licence under Scheme I. Such
manufacturers may subsequently migrate to Scheme II as per 4 above if they so desire.
However, in case the Applicant desires to withdraw the Application at any stage and apply
afresh for Registration under Scheme II, the same may be permitted with Test Report.



6. New Applications

New Applications shall be submitted only under Scheme II (CRS).

7. Use of both the Standard Marks shall not be permitted.

8. BOs may bring the above to the notice of the Licensees and Applicants under their
jurisdiction.
