description Leather safety boots and shoes for miners are covered under IS 1989 (Part 1):1986. This standard (Part 1) specifies the requirements and sampling and testing methods for leather safety boots and shoes for miners. Safety leather boots with rubber soles may be used in coal mines, particularly by trammers and shotfirers. The leather safety boots and shoes for men miners shall conform to requirements for design, materials, manufacture, finish, and performance as specified in the standard. The material used in leather safety boots and shoes shall conform to the requirements specified in the standard. For upper Printed grain leather in any colour A that meets the requirements of IS 578:1985 must be used. Vegetable-tanned leather that meets the requirements of IS 3840:1979 must be used.
