description General purpose plywood is a popular and adaptable engineered wood product that may be utilized for a variety of woodworking and building tasks. Its structure, which comprises of several layers (plies) of wood veneer bonded together with neighboring plies' grains running perpendicular to one another, is what gives it its distinctive appearance. Strongness, stability, and resistance to splitting or warping are provided by the cross-grain architecture. A variety of wood species may be used to make plywood for general uses, including hardwoods like birch, oak, and maple, and softwoods like pine, fir, and spruce. Generally used plywood is available in a range of thicknesses, from 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) to 1 inch (25.4 mm) or more. The thickness used is determined by the particular needs of the project.
