description Fly ash, a byproduct of thermal power plants, is combined with Portland cement clinker to create Portland Pozzolana cement. Fly ash and other pozzolanos are essentially siliceous minerals that, although not having cementitious qualities, will react with calcium hydroxide at room temperature to form compounds that, when finely split and wet, have properties similar to those of cement.
